Traditional help with Acute and Chronic Pain

We are in a unique position as Chartered Physiotherapists to be able to combine our natural treatment methods with acupuncture which is available can help with the relief of acute and chronic pain, stress related problems and to help quit smoking.
In addition, we retain the services of a traditionally trained acupuncturist who offers a holistic approach in the treatment of many conditions.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body. These may be near and distant to the area you have pain.
Research has shown that acupuncture causes the brain to produce natural pain relieving and anti inflammatory chemicals. It helps prevent the pain messages reaching the brain. Acupuncture has been shown to relax tight muscles and tissues. It also greatly accelerates the healing process.

Is it safe?

It is safe when practised by qualified practitioners.
The needles are all sterile, single use, disposable needles.

Will it hurt?

My clients are always very pleasantly surprised how comfortable acupuncture is to have done. Occasionally, when the needle is first inserted a pin prick sensation can be felt which is only a mild temporary discomfort. A deep aching sensation that is temporarily felt after this is part of effective stimulation. However most patients feel almost nothing at all.
